When SiriusXM fired host Anthony Cumia over a series of comments made on Twitter many expected his co-host of 20 years, Greg "Opie" Hughes to follow him out the door.

Hughes and on-air sidekick Jim Norton returned to the airwaves Monday because, they explained, they were under contract and SiriusXM could sue them for millions if they just walked out.

The pair expressed strong support for their departed colleague and left open the possibility that the longstanding partners would reunite.

In the week since then Hughes and Norton have brought in a host of comedians and friends to take part in their evolving show. They have been careful to say they are not doing the Opie and Anthony show while also admitting they don't exactly know what they are doing.

They explained to the audience that their contracts end in October. At that time, it's possible they may reunite with Cumia.

Cumia has been defiant since his firing, refusing to apologize and preparing to launch the Anthony Cumia Show on August 4. That program, which will come from his home studio on Long Island, will be sold on a subscription model.

Hughes and Norton made it clear that they have no interest in commuting to Long Island from Manhattan, but did suggest a reunion was possible if they found the right location.

Cumia has not talked about the subject but did retweet the following line this week which should give fans some hope:

RT @OpieAntFan: @AnthonyCumia So is the Opie and Anthony show done?

-At least till Oct. 1st.
