Metallica were due to come to Australia and New Zealand later this year as part of the band's Worldwired Tour.

Sadly, the band had to cancel the tour altogether because singer James Hetfield needed to enter rehab again. Well now the band has announced a new 2020 tour with no new dates for those down under.

Metallica teased a big announcement earlier this week, and all it turned out to be is another tour in North America. You can read the full announcement below as seen on the official Metallica website.

"FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, METALLICA WILL BE HEADLINING ALL FIVE US ROCK FESTIVALS PRODUCED BY DANNY WIMMER PRESENTS. TWO DIFFERENT NIGHTS AND TWO DIFFERENT SETS FOR A TOTAL OF TEN AMAZING HEADLINING PERFORMANCES FROM THE WORLD’S BIGGEST BAND. WITH ADDITIONAL BIG-NAME ARTISTS STILL TO BE ANNOUNCED, CHOOSE YOUR FAVORITE FESTIVAL OR CHOOSE THEM ALL! THIS WILL BE YOUR ONLY CHANCE TO SEE METALLICA AT A NORTH AMERICAN FESTIVAL NEXT YEAR!

The dates of the tours are May, September and October so there are still some gaps where the band could visit Australia and New Zealand.

That being said, fans in those countries are annoyed that they have been forgotten about for the time being.

With this new announcement, this might confirm that James Hetfield will be out of rehab by May 2020. Hopefully Australia and New Zealand get new tour announcements because it's unfair for North America to see them so frequently.

Metallica last visited New Zealand in October 2010 while the last time they toured Australia was in early 2013. Fans in those countries have been waiting literally for years to come back down!
