Comedian Ricky Gervais began a campaign against the Yulin Dog Meat Easting Festival and "The Vampire Diaries" Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder also appear to be onboard.

Gervais' tweet below was retweeted by Ian Somerhalder on June 10 and following the retweet, Somerhalder proceeded to make it a mission of his to let his fans and followers get involved via Twitter and Instagram.

He left an extremely angry caption on his Instagram post yesterday where he expressed his outrage for the festival.

"Repost this please!I NEED YOU," said Somerhalder in her caption. "Sign this NOW please! https://www.change.org/p/president-of-the-people-s-republic-of-china-stop-the-yulin-dog-meat-eating-festival Stop the senseless and barbaric killing of dogs in the streets at the Yulin Dog meat Festival. Following Somerhalder's post, his co-star Paul Wesley got involved by tweeting out a link to the petition. Wesley has often supported his co-star in some of his passionate endeavors to change the world for the better.

They are continuing that tradition with this recent campaign against the Yulin festival.

"Gervais, who is a staunch supporter of animal rights, has joined a campaign to put an end to the Chinese festival," according to Independent.

"Every year, around 10,000 dogs, many of which are stolen pets, are slaughtered in the Guangxi province. Some reports claim that 500,000 lbs of dog meat is consumed annually."
