A report surfaced a few weeks ago that Disney could be purchasing many of 20th Century Fox's TV and film rights. Well talks are said to have resumed and an official announcement could be happening soon.

According a report from Deadline, the word on the street is that Disney is going ahead with the acquisition of Fox. The main things Disney will be buying are all of the TV and film studio rights.

However, official word from both studios are quiet at the moment. The reports says Disney's acquisitions of both Marvel and Star Wars were kept under wraps for a long time so it's possible this situation is similar.

Fox won't be fully acquired by Disney because it will still retain the sports and news parts of the organization. There are some nervous people in Hollywood with the fact that Disney will continue its dominance in the movie industry.

If Disney does buy a portion of Fox, it can reacquire the film rights to the likes of the X-Men, Deadpool and the Fantastic Four.

This is good news for comic book movie fans because this means all of Marvel's characters can now appear in the MCU.

If the sale goes ahead, Sony will be the only outside studio owning a Marvel property.

Even though Sony has agreed for Spider-Man to appear in the MCU, they still own the film rights to the character and not Disney. Disney however can still produce its own TV shows of Spider-Man and his characters.

It will be interesting to see if this sale really goes ahead. It could be one of the biggest purchases in entertainment history.
