It is a great honor for Ed Sheeran to be taking home the award for Songwriter of the Year from the 2015 Ivor Novello awards.

The Ivor Novello awards is an award show by songwriters for songwriters in Britain and Ireland. It is run the the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors (BASCA.) It is not televised and is not very well known to the public.

It only aims to celebrate and promote the excellence of songwriters and composers. The nominations are judged by a panel of juries that changes from year to year.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, just a couple of days prior, Sheeran stated that he felt very honored to even been nominated for any part of Ivor Novello.

Previously Sheeran has won best song of the year back in 2012 for his song "The A Team," which he is immensely proud of. "A Team" was up against Adele's "Rolling In the Deep" and "Someone Like You." I went thinking Adele would win because she wins everything."

All of Sheeran's published work can be found on Spotify.
